Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) improve your health through movement based interventions. AEPs are experts in designing exercise programs to manage chronic conditions, recover from injuries, and improve overall well-being. We believe movement is medicine and tailor every program to your unique needs.
AEPs are university-qualified (minimum 4 years) professionals who specialise in clinical exercise interventions for people with injuries, chronic diseases, and disabilities. Unlike physiotherapists, who often focus on acute rehabilitation, AEPs take a long-term approach to help you regain and maintain function. We are also different from personal trainers, as we focus on safe, evidence-based exercise to treat and manage chronic diseases and injuries.
We support a wide range of conditions, including but not limited to: arthritis, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, neurological conditions (e.g., Parkinson’s disease), among many other disabilities. Whether you’re managing chronic pain, recovering from surgery, wanting to become more steady on your feet or facing any other daily challenges, we’re here to help you move better.
Absolutely everyone! Most of us could move a little more and move a little better to navigate our way through life’s challenges.
Our services are designed for everyone, especially seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those with chronic conditions. Whether you’re looking to stay independent at home, recover from an injury, or improve your mobility, we create programs that meet your goals and improve your quality of life.
Your first session is all about understanding you, your needs, and your goals. Here’s what the process typically looks like:
1. A Warm Welcome
We’ll start by introducing ourselves and answering any initial questions you may have. This session is a no-pressure opportunity to discuss what you’re looking for and how we can help.
2. Discussion of Your Goals
We’ll talk about what you’d like to achieve, whether that’s improving strength, reducing pain, recovering from an injury, managing a condition, or regaining independence. Your goals will guide every part of your program.
3. Medical and Lifestyle History
We’ll go through your medical history, current health concerns, and any physical or functional challenges you’re experiencing. This includes understanding any medications, recent surgeries, or conditions that could influence your exercise plan. If you’re living with a disability or chronic condition, we’ll explore how it affects your daily life and mobility.
4. Baseline Assessments
To design the best program for you, we will conduct a few simple assessments. These could include tests that assess:
5. Collaborative Planning
We’ll work with you to develop a plan that best fits your goals, conditions and lifestyle.
6. First Steps Toward Movement
Now we’ve got a better understanding of your conditions and goals, let’s get you moving well and feeling great!
